The Nigerian body charged with selecting Nollywood movies for consideration in the Foreign Language category of the Academy Awards, Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee (NOSC) is now receiving movie submissions.
Submissions which are towards the 2016 edition of the Oscars started on June 16 and will end on July 6, 2015.
According to to Chineze Anyaene, “What matters to the committee is the selection and submission of works that best represent the country, and not just to be counted among the countries with entries at the Oscars.”
The chairperson of the committee continued, “Movies must have been released in Nigeria between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015, and be publicly exhibited for at least seven consecutive days in a commercial motion picture theater, for the profit of the producer and exhibitor. In addition, the picture must be advertised and exploited during its theatrical release in a manner considered normal and customary to the industry. The picture need not have been released in the United States.”
