President Muhammadu Buhari has once again pledged to wage war on piracy in Nollywood, and he intends to achieve this by empowering relevant bodies and agencies.
At yesterday’s opening ceremony of the 28th Annual International Conference of Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA) in collaboration with the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), the president made the reiteration as he declared the conference open.
Buhari also noted that that excessive exposure to foreign films was to blame for the high level of immorality as well as the erosion of values in the society.
The theme for this year’s SONTA conference is “Repositioning Nollywood for The Promotion of Nigeria’s Cultural Diplomacy & National Security.”
