According to reports, late English singer, painter and actor David Bowie survived six heart attacks before his eventual death on Sunday.
Bowie died on Sunday, January 10 of cancer but according to Wendy Leigh who published a biography of Bowie in 2015, it wasn’t just cancer that the talented 69-year old had to battle with before his shocking death.
Leigh told BBC, “He didn’t just battle cancer… he had six heart attacks in recent years. I got this from somebody very close to him.“
Bowie underwent heart surgery in 2004 for an acutely blocked artery which signalled the beginning of several health battles.
The singer, also considered to be one of the most influential writers of pop music, released “Lazarus” on his 69th birthday – just two days before his death and Tony Visconti, the producer who worked with Bowie to complete his final album has confirmed that the star planned his graphic final message as a “parting gift” for his fans. Visconti on his Facebook page, wrote, “He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way.”
The video of “Lazarus” depicts the musician in a hospital bed, and ends with him retreating in to a dark closet.
