South African radio DJ and former Idols SA Judge is suing M-Net for wrongfully dismissing him on the show.
Gareth Cliff who is also the founder of CliffCentral.com was fired after he posted some comments about a controversial post by a certain Penny Sparrow.
Sparrow had referred to black South Africans at Durban beach as “monkeys” and when Gareth Cliff had retweeted a poll which asked whether racist social media posts should be made illegal with the comment; “People don’t understand free speech at all” many people assumed he was pro what Sparrow had done.
This caused people to call in to boycott Idols SA.
However, Cliff clearly did not see anything wrong with what he did. He is suing M-Net for R25million for “wrongful dismissal and defamation of character”.
Cliff said in a report;
To be fired over this whole mess does seem unfair, M-Net has said as much. They said i’m not a Racist.
For those who are wondering how much Cliff is suing M-Net for when changed to naira, it is 295,993,092 naira.
We wait to see if M-Net is about to make Gareth Cliff a multi millionaire.
