Wrestling superstar and Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson popularly known by his wrestling moniker ‘The Rock‘ has signed on to star in Jungle Cruise – a film based on the now-classic ride of the same title.
The development brings the erstwhile lull project back to life with Dwayne now signed on to it. Hollywood movie studio Disney has been trying over the years to create a movie on their popular ride and actors like Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were once drafted alongside writer Roger S.H. Schulman but all to no fruition at the end of the day.
For your information, Jungle Cruise is actually one of the rides in Disneyland and it’s an original piece of adventure where park goers can cruise through a transportation in Disneyland, on African rivers like Nile and Congo in a simulated tropical jungle settings where riders will encounter animals like hippos, rhinos and even piranhas along the course. The scenery adds to the breathtaking experience which has made the ride a hit with park goers since 2004.
The ride’s movie adaptation has been given a new lease of life with the duo of John Requa and Glenn Ficarra who directed Will Smith‘s latest movie, Focus,as the new directors and script writers. With hunk Dwayne Johnson eagerness on the adventure in the Disney park themed movie, it sure looks like the movie is going to be achieved in the targeted 2016 release date.
