Stars of the movie, Fifty, stormed cinemas across Lagos in surprise appearances, selling tickets and serving popcorn; and generally adding to the excitement around the resounding success of the movie. Fifty is now reputedly best opening movie of its kind for the first weekend opening of any Nigerian movie in its class, beating the biggest film title of 2015, Star Wars.
Professor Wole Soyinka added to the glamour of a screening over the weekend, when he dropped by to see the movie at the Genesis Deluxe Cinema in Lagos. With moviegoers pouring into movie theaters across the country, prepare for a surprise encounter with Omoni Oboli, Dakore Egbuson–Akande, and Ireti Doyle, as they sign autographs, sell tickets or serve popcorn, when and where you least expect them.
