Nollywood director and all-around content producer, Femi Ogunsanwo has attributed the lack of indigenous content to keep Nigerians glued to their television sets for long periods of time to the economic situation in the country.
Ogunsanwo who is ready with his latest project, Living Arrangement, feels that funding is the main reason why television drama content in Nigeria cannot rival its rivals from other parts of the world especially the US and United Kingdom.
Asked what was responsible for the seeming inability of TV series being produced locally to hold an audience spellbound as much as the popular telenovelas and Game of Thrones, Femi Ogunsanwo said, “[It is a] combination of proper funding.”
He continued, “When you consider how much HBO spends on each episode & also the ability for the investor to get his/her Return on Investment … Basically, the economy we operate in also affects our industry in both Film & TV.”
Living Arrangement is a comedy TV series starring Moet Abebe, Muna Abii, Udoka Oyeka, Seun Ajayi and more.
