Game of Thrones has lost one of its big names.
British veteran actor, Peter Vaughan who played Maester Aemon, Maester of the Night’s Watch, in the first, third, fourth and fifth seasons of HBO‘s series Game of Thrones, has died peacefully in his sleep.
Vaughan appeared on the scene in Alfred Hitchcock‘s 1959 film, The 39 Steps, and went ahead to feature in The Naked Runner, The French Lieutenant’s Woman, The Remains of the Day, Time Bandits, Brazil and The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
His agent Sally Long-Innes said, “This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning.”
Vaughan also made his mark on British TV, starring in shows including Citizen Smith, Chancer, Our Friends in the North, Silk and comedy series Porridge.
He was married twice.
