To whom a large movie Industry is given, baddest guys are expected.
And that is why Nollywood did a pretty good job in giving us some of the baddest guys ever! And, since the Industry is one of the biggest in the world, it is safe to say these bad guys are some of the biggest bad guys in the world.
Sit back and countdown to the 9 baddest guys in Nollywood history…
spiritual ability to create different words in every single movie he stars in, Chiwetalu Agu is one bad man that sometimes even gets his own soundtrack (yeah, all that “evil” music you hear when he approaches is not child’s play). Dude even appears in different memes for bad guys and it’s no surprise he automatically pops up in the minds of people when Nollywood bad guys are mentioned.
Probably the only Actor with the highest number of monikers in Nollywood (Kura Matete and Kura are the most popular), Yinka Quadri has been in this bad guy business no be today.
Take that Falz!
From Babalawo to Ritualist to Sugar Daddy with bad intentions to being an Armed Robber (forget the potbelly, Baba dey rob wella!), Mr Quadri’s age can do nothing from stopping him from being a bad guys.
Baba no go die unless to ba darugbo!
Kanayo O Kanayo
See, only this guy can cancel all the bad guys on this list. I mean this dude has a mean line dedicated to him in an Olamide hook;
Kanayo O Kanayo lemi mo kana gan.
Remember that from Ghostmode with Phyno? That line literally means, I am Kanayo O Kanayo and I’m very wicked. Man, you’d feel the sweetness if you understand Yoruba.
But he is that good. Forget ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder, this man can use everybody in your village to do blood money and get away with it. Yeah, he did it first. He’s got the Bad Guy P, he is the baddest guy ever liveth and if James Bond ever got a Nigerian villain and this guy got cast, he would defeat James Bond. Yeah, call him 0014 (read, oh oh fourteen).
Oh yeah, I did that.
Think Yoruba principality and power, think Odunlade Adekola. One of the highest paid Actors from the Yoruba arm of Nollywood, Odunlade’s strength seems to lie in his ability to play a bad guy.
I mean he played a demon in a movie and he could have convinced me that he was from the kingdom of darkness.
In fact, I take it back. Odunlade is not just a bad guy, dude is the demon that creates the bad guys. If that makes sense.
Mr Jim Iyke is probably the only bad guy whose badness transcends the screen. Oga even creates bad guy profile outside Nollywood.
*Cue in bad guy P music*
With his Amerigbo accent (I have been told this means American + Igbo, hey, I didn’t create the word!), Mr Jim Iyke serves badness everytime and we somehow like it. And, we somehow forgive him for his overacting because of this.
Hank Anuku was everybody’s favorite armed robber one time like that. Oga even went and played armed robber in a Yoruba movie back when it was rare to see English speaking actors in Yoruba roles.
These days, he might not be a regular on your screen but forget, this guy killed movies with his badness (If you like take the latter part of that statement literally, I will not be held responsible).
Gentle Jack has taken time off these days it seems. But once upon a time,
this Bouncer Actor was one of the baddest guys on our screens.
And who would blame the people who cast him, Oga looks like the type that will send anyone into a coma if they hand him a loverboy role. Haha I kid!
Eyes Prince Black Arrow is, the strongest Villain in Nollywood’s history. It would be a punishable offence not to include him on this list.
Hey, don’t blame me. Y’all know how this woman can be if she doesn’t make it to this list. After all, she wears the trousers in the relationship (with Nollywood).
