Cannes Film Festival has come and gone with very little Nollywood‘s participation. However, our very own NollywoodWeek Paris will be kicking off in about one week and the programme lineup has been released. Taking place at Cinema l’Arlequin, the event will run from June 2 – June 5 and is open to everyone, not just Nollywood personalities.
NollywoodWeek is an annual film festival that showcases the best of the Nigerian film industry with the aim of finding a larger audience and more sustainable distribution system for these quality films. The festival is organized by Okada Media, an association based in Paris, France headed by Serge Noukoué and Nadira Shakur.
Multiple Grammy award winner and one of the stars of Kunle Afolayan‘s The CEO has been revealed as the ambassador for this year’s event. Jimmy Jean Louis was the ambassador for last year.
The official movie selection was released some weeks ago and they are: Fifty by Biyi Bandele , Falling by Niyi Akinmolayan, The First Lady by Omoni Oboli, Stalker by Moses Inwang, Gbomo Gbomo Express by Walt Taylaur, Lunch Time Heroes by Seyi Babatope, and Taxi Driver by Daniel Oriahi. It was also announced that this year for the first time the festival will showcase a selection of short films. The seven short films that made the selection are: Hex, Prey, Joy, The Encounter, Keko, Ireti and The Good Son.
Here’s the schedule for every day of the festival:
