Hollywood actor, Idris Elba is set to executive produce Brazza, a movie about the activities of the criminal underworld of Brazzaville, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to THR, Idris will be executive producing the movie with Tandem Production’s Rola Bauer and Tim Halkin and Save Ferris‘ Jean-Charles Felli and Christophe Tomas.
This isn’t the actor’s first rodeo with an Africa-set movie as he recently starred in Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation, a movie about a young boy who becomes a child soldier as his country goes through a horrific war.
To be written by Paul Viragh, Brazza is about a Congolese man living in Paris is forced to return home after his father dies under suspicious circumstances. Once there he gets drawn into a bloody family feud that threatens the country’s uneasy truce.
Speaking about his involvement in the movie, Elba said, “I am so proud to be working on this African-set drama and to introduce a global audience to a world and culture that resonates so vibrantly with me.”
