Just Not Married is a charming caper comedy about a bright but broke undergrad striving to escape the slums gets in over his head when his modest criminal enterprise goes a bit too far.
Directed by Uduak Obong Patrick and produced by Judith Audu Fought, Just Not Married yesterday, February 16, 2017, had its US premiere at the ongoing Pan African Film Festival.
It tells the story of Duke, a promising undergraduate student who is broke but must provide for his critically ill mother and his ex-con brother. With the help of his two best friends, Lati and Keji, he hatches an ingenious plan to steal cars: after Lati breaks into a vehicle, they dress it up with ribbons and bows to resemble a newly-wed vehicle.
Just Not Married will also screen on Sunday, February 19 at Cinemark’s Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza 15.
