Kemi Lala Akindoju gave TNS.ng some exclusives at the press screening of her latest screen effort.
The Actress who plays two different characters in the movie, Surulere, discusses how she came to be one of the few actresses to star in two out of the biggest movies of the year 2015.
Her ‘jazz’ is not ordinary, but the Actress held nothing back as she shared it all;
For me… at this point in my career there are filmmakers that I want to work with… there are filmmakers (that) I have to work with… because I believe that as a newcomer to be accepted you have to do the right jobs, you can miss it. So if you’re not in the right job, if you’re not seen in the right company, if you’re not playing the right roles, you know, in the first three, four, five years you have on screen … you can just miss it. So for me and my management and my PR we are just like these are the filmmakers we would like to work with. So we’re constantly looking for them, going to them, going for auditions everything…
…and those films didn’t sell because of me… they were good films, they were made by great filmmakers, they were marketed properly and I must also say, there is the favor of God.
On working with the legendary filmmaker Tunde Kelani who produced the movie Dazzling Mirage where Kemi Lala Akindoju played a lead role;
Tunde Kelani cast me in the film (Dazzling Mirage) in 2011, we shot it in 2013. He is a very meticulous filmmaker, he knows exactly what he wants. He is very professional… he is very professional. He celebrates his actors and makes you feel like the most important person in the world and he e appreciates his Actor’s input. Working with him was very good.And he is very African!
The Actress adds;
He cast me in the film without even seeing him.
