One of the most revered personalities in Nollywood, Lancelot Imasuen popularly known as ‘The Guvnor’ marks 20 years in the Nigerian movie industry.
The highly decorated actor, director and screenwriter is remembering his over two decades old Nollywood journey which many will agree has been very successful. In celebrating his journey so far, two new television series are in the works. Also, other plans have been made to honour this icon by his friends and colleagues in the industry.
For your information, Lancelot Imaseun started his movie journey from his beloved state of Edo years ago and had made a name there but took a bold step in 1994 to relocate to Lagos.
The filmmaker said, “I have never done any other thing (job). From secondary school I was acting, after which I continued acting, even before going to the university to study Theatre Arts. In fact, I was already a household name in my state, Edo State, prior to being split in into Edo, and Delta States.“
Imasuen is a multiple awards winner including the coveted Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). His Invasion 1897 received massive international acclaim.
