Africa Magic and Nollywood producer, Emem Isong, have partnered to pull off a major collaboration between Nollywood and Bollywood. The outcome of the partnership, a comedy titled Love is in the Hair, hits cinemas across Nigeria on Friday, January 15, 2016.
Emem Isong’s production company, Royal Arts Academy, was commissioned by Africa Magic to produce the movie, which was shot in Lagos and New Delhi. The movie stars Nigerian and Indian actors, which includes Ime Bishop Umoh, Avijit Dutt, Uti Nwachukwu, Vani Vyas, Toyin Aimakhu, Okey Bakassi and Funky Mallam.
The movie is about Jonny (aka Twelve Fingers), a misguided loser, who falls for Doreen, a jet-setting executive, and steals a piece of her hair to charm her into falling for him. Unfortunately, Doreen’s hair was an Indian attachment, and the real owner – a middle-aged Indian woman, comes after Jonny with the craze of a charmed woman in love.
Love is in the Hair combines the best of Nollywood and Bollywood, and the result is a movie that is not only unique, but also very interesting, highly entertaining, and extremely hilarious. It will surely thrill the Nigerian audience, and it looks set to be a box office hit. Cinema-goers will find themselves laughing again and again while watching the movie, especially at the antics of Nollywood funnyman, Ime ‘Bishop’ Umoh.
