According to The Hollywood Reporter, award-winning Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong’o is in negotiations to star in Marvel‘s Black Panther alongside Chadwick Boseman as his love interest. Nyong’o last appeared as the alien Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and lent her voice for the wolf Raksha in The Jungle Book.
The Black Panther, Africa’s first superhero, was introduced in Captain America: Civil War and is set to have its own movie.
Although the character Lupita will play is still not confirmed, THR speculates that she will play one of Monica Lynne, Malaika, Storm, Queen Divine Justice and Shuri.
The movie will be directed and written by Ryan Coogler, who also helmed and wrote Creed. Production will begin in 2017 and the movie is slated for release on February 16, 2018.
I’m actually hoping Lupita plays Queen Divine Justice or Shuri. Someone to challenge the Black Panther a little and not necessarily be all mushy and lovey-dovey by his side.Who do you think it will be though?
