Ghollywood actress, Lydia Forson has been named the 70th most influential Ghanaian at Ghana’s Most Influential (GMI) honours by e.TV Ghana on Thursday night.
The GMI honours recognizes and celebrates Ghanaians who have contributed significantly to the growth of Ghana.
The actress also released new pictures on her blog, lydiaforson.com with a moving piece that featured a lovely poem by Maya Angelou.
Here’s what she said:
Happy Republic Day Everyone…
Today I’m going to celebrate me a little, we all need to do that from time to time, however vain it may seem to others.
Yesterday I was honoured as one of the 100 most influential people in Ghana. Up until the event I hadn’t really said much or made noise about it because it hadn’t sunk in.
Until I looked around a room full of the likes of Pastor Mensah Otabil, Gifty Anti, Stephen Appiah, Comfort and Albert Ocran etc and realised, wow, I’m really here with all these great people who’ve inspired so many?
I’m influential? Is what I kept asking myself each time someone came up to me to congratulate me or take a picture.
Because it will take a while for it to all sink in; I guess because I’ve never done anything with that intention, I’ve never looked for attention or validation. I’ve always tried to own me and my truth, concentrated on living a life I can look back at and be proud of, and if in the process touched a few people, even better.
Because I realised a long time ago that I couldn’t change the whole world, but I could atleast brighten the corner where I was.
And today, it’s seems my little light in the corner has been recognized and for that I’m humbled to say the least.
So today I’m going to share one of my favourite poems, one which has been my own light in the dark for many years. And one which I think speaks to everything that I am, a…PHENOMENAL WOMAN…. Read the rest here
