Hollywood actor, Michael Douglas who has been acting for close to fifty years, was five years ago diagnosed with tongue cancer. And for five years he’s dealt with cancer and is now thankfully free after he was treated with an aggressive form of radiation and chemotherapy.
In a recent question and answer forum, the 71-year-old was asked about his battle with cancer and here is what he said:
“Well it’s good to be alive,” Douglas said while fighting back tears. “You never anticipate that. That was a workout. It was one of those situations where I was aware of something being wrong and had two or three misdiagnoses and spent a year before I went in and found out it was stage 4 cancer. Once you come out of that end, you have a resurgence of energy and you take advantage of what you want to do with your life. You have to be conscious about how many years you have and anything beyond that is gravy. I am extremely fortunate.“
