I Quit stars Jim Iyke, (Jake Ikenna), Rita Dominic (Peju Ikenna), Dan Dennovo (Ritchie), Ebele Okaro (Mama), Jibola Dabor (Chief Aderibigbe) and Nikky Simmonas (Sophie). The movie is produced by Uche Ivo.
The story is about a couple, an entertainment guru Jake and his wife who is a lawyer. They are both engrossed with their work but Jake still finds time to be with his wife Peju and care for their daughter Natasha (Diana Obe).
Peju is more concerned about her work and even when her friend Sophia intervenes she still doesn’t turn a new leaf and, as it was later revealed, was cyber cheating just for the fun of it. Sophie also began an affair with Jake later as she was giving him the TLC (tender loving care) Peju refuses him.
There are a lot of irrelevant, unecessary, overflogged scenes in the movie. The meetings at Untamed Entertainment office, the bad acting of the “waka pass” roles. They could have done better. There are numerous movies where the “waka pass” performed just as brilliantly as the major cast. And also the security and papparazi around the charcater Jake was excessive for his office.
At a point, I had to ask myself if I was still watching a movie or seeing Jim Iyke advertising his brand, UNTAMED. And sunshades while cooking? Hell no!
The chemistry between Jake and his mum is, however, commendable and it was good to see the Jim Iyke play a romantic role.
Except for a few scenes there was nothing special, fascinating in the movie, it’s just there.
I will take the word of the character Jake in the movie when he said a movie should have the wow factor and keep viewers at the edges of their seats. This movie failed to do so!
