Yesterday, news broke that the Federal Government had decided to scrap the plans for the Kano Film Village project. The Muhammadu Buhari ultra-modern film village at Kofa in Bebeji local government area of Kano State was meant to gulp about 3 billion Naira and provide over 10,000 jobs for Nigerians.
The FG’s intentions were however met by negative reactions by Islamic clerics in Kano who said the government was only plotting to destroy the good values of the people of the state. A lot of people in the Northern state also supported the clerics and mobilized campaigns to stop the project.
However, a cross-section of Nigerians has decried the actions of the clerics. They argued that it was unwise for the people of Kano to reject such a revolutionary project. Check out some of the reactions on Twitter.
Some have even insinuated that the project be brought to their states.
