Nollywood star Nse Ikpe-Etim is one of the guest stars in celebrated South African film, Tess which will premiere in cinemas from February 24, 2017.
In Tess, Ikpe-Etim plays a Congolese refugee, Madeleine who ran away to South Africa to escape the war in her homeland. She develops a close friendship with a young commercial sex worker ‘Tess’ (Christia Vissier) who is battling demons from her past.
The Phone Swap and A Trip to Jamaica star said about Tess, “This movie gave me one of the best roles I have ever had to play. I am excited that finally, everyone will get a chance to see it.”
Tess deals with the themes of prostitution and sexual abuse suffered by women and girl children in South Africa. Directed by Meg Rickards, the film also stars Christia Visser (Ballade vir ‘n Enkeling, Hollywood in My Huis), Brendon Daniels (iNumber Number, Four Corners) and Dann Jacques Mouton (Noem My Skollie). It is produced by Paul Egan and Kim Williams of Boondogle Films.
It premiered the Durban International Film Festival in July 2016 before heading on to screen at the kykNET Silwerskermfees and at the BRICS International Film in New Delhi.
