Owumi Ugbeye‘s face is very familiar to Nigerian television audience and theatre-goers. Weaned by a mother who is also an actor, Tosan Ugbeye, Owumi is a natural on stage and screen. Recently, she was spotted at the premiere of the movie, Stolen Lives at the Ozone Cinemas, Yaba. Playing the lead role in a full-length movie is a great deal and she quickly soaked in the flashing cameras and recorders that surrounded her after the screening. The graduate of French language at the University of Benin had always been passionate about acting but still can’t deny how challenging it can be.
“At first, it was challenging,” she began. “But when I started, I became comfortable with it. And it’s just been a very fulfilling experience because usually, being given a chance to play a role in something big, especially in Nollywood for a cinema movie is a privilege. At first, it was scary but now it’s just exciting. So, I’m happy to have been able to do it.”
