David Oyelowo and his four-year-old daughter Zoe were adorable on the red carpet at the screening of Disney‘s Queen of Katwe in Los Angeles on September 20, 2016.
Daddy’s little princess was dressed in a cute black dress and a kente sash to match her dad’s waist coat and had her hair done in cornrows.
Speaking about his reason for taking part in Queen of Katwe, the story about the “underdog-to-star” chess prodigy, Phiona Mutesi, Oyelowo said he did it as a love letter to his daughter as the story was a positive, life-affirming one.
He said, “I sort of did it as a love letter for my daughter Zoe. It’s the first time I’ve done a film that I can take my whole family to. For someone of African descent myself to see a positive, life-affirming story like this was something I really wanted to be a part of. I couldn’t believe Disney was making a movie like this.”
