Nollywood actor, Kate Henshaw has reacted angrily to reports that Ikenna Onuoha, an Exxon Mobil employee who raped a 14-year-old girl on January 4, 2016, and was charged to court has been granted bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
The actress said this in connection with Ikenna Onuoha who raped a 14-year-old girl on the 4th of January, 2016, was charged to court and then granted bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
According to reports, the accused had raped the girl before attempting to shut her up with one thousand Naira. He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate OA Ogunbowale of the Igbosere Magistrate Court in Lagos who on January 15, 2016 granted him bail before adjourning the case till February 23, 2016.
Kate Henshaw on her Twitter page expressed anger at the ruling saying:
“Rapists should not be granted bail. This will act as a deterrent and action should be expedited especially for rape cases so that victims do not wait long for justice and can begin the process of counselling and healing.”
She also asked parents to encourage their children to speak when they become victims of such terrible act. “Teach children to speak out,” she added.
