Bollywood star actor, Salman Khan has been granted bail until the appeal of his conviction is ruled on in his hit-and-run case.
On Wednesday, May 6, Khan was sentenced to 5 years in prison for running over five homeless men who were sleeping on a footpath in Mumbai in 2002. One of them died in the incident. The judgment was given despite Khan claiming that it was his driver who was behind the wheels that night.
Two days ago, the court suspended the execution of the actor’s sentence and he was asked to pay about $500 in bail bonds.
Khan’s appeal hearing is expected to commence in July however, the bail granted Khan has raised plenty eyebrows in a region where it is believed that celebrities are accorded special treatments.
