Veteran Nollywood actor, Dr Alex Usifo has opened up on why he has been absent from the movie scenes. In a recent interview with Sahara Weekly, the actor who recently bagged a Ph.D. degree explained that he has not been very satisfied with the scripts he has been getting, hence his absence.
You are one of the veteran Nigerians want to see on screen but it’s been a while now; what’s been happening?
If you ask me, Nollywood is getting bigger, the only thing is you may complain that the stories are not the way they used to be. When people complain about Nollywood, they complain of the stories and the kind of people they see. Maybe a lot of us, when we are given scripts and we don’t like the story, we can tell them we don’t want to be part of it. And on their part, they can’t afford us so they settle for less and these things affect good production, because you may have a good story but don’t have the kind of money to pay artistes, equipment, right locations, good direction, good camera man. So if some aspects are not right, it will affect your story.
