Despite terrible reviews and bad critic reception, Warner Bros‘ Suicide Squad opened at the cinemas at an all time high of about $135 million in 57 overseas markets and $65.1 million domestically. This made the opening the biggest August launch of any film.
However, the victory was short lived as ticket sales dropped by 41 percent the next day and have been dropping more since then.
The movie, directed by David Ayers got a rating of 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, lower than Batman vs Superman‘s 27%.
Wall Street Journal’s review of the movie says: “In a word, “Suicide Squad” is trash. In two words, it’s ugly trash. Maybe no more words should be wasted on a movie that is, after all, only a movie, not a natural disaster or a terrorist attack.”
Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) and Jared Leto (Joker).
