Veteran and highly respected actress, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett is in the news with her latest opinion on the way forward for the Nollywood brand.
Ajai-Lycett who was at the Silverbird Galleria premiere for No Good Turn Last spoke on ways the quality of our movies can be improved. She pointed out that issues in our society are numerous and ready-to-use movie themes that can be explored. She also implored filmmakers to take their time before they churn out their movies.
“It is about awareness. We have people outside the country not talking right about us and we have a medium. We need to tell our stories in a more intelligent way. We need to move forward and tell our stories right,” she said.
The necessity for our movie to be well-made and socially aware isn’t a joking matter because movies are works of art and one of the marketing avenues a country’s image can be polished. If properly worked, the love and interests of the world in Nigeria could be huge. Just like Hollywood has sold the United States Of America to the rest of the world.
