Nigerians don’t forget things easily. Especially if you make statements that are hinged on revolutionary events like the US elections.
A few weeks ago, Basketmouth said he was never going to perform a show in the US for the duration of Trump‘s tenure if he should win. He also said during an interview that: “If Donald Trump wins the US election, I’m so running for the Presidential election in Nigeria 2019”.
Nobel laureate winner, Wole Soyinka also made a promise based on the victory of the Republican candidate saying: “If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that.
“The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up.”
Nigerians are holding both men accountable for their statements and are telling them to do as they said.
