Over the past few months, there have been whispers about the presence of homosexuality in the Nigerian movie industry popularly referred to as Nollywood. There have even been cases of actors crying out about being “sexually threatened” by members of the same sex. An example is Yul Edochie, son of veteran actor Pete Edochie who recently cried out about a certain Steven Ugochukwu Nelson Onyebuchi.
There have been other cases too, and in a period where there is an international reaction to the recent legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States, Daily Independent takes a look at homosexuality as it affects Nollywood.
