Reports reaching TNS say that comedian turned filmmaker Yibo Koko has been sacked by M-NET, the production arm of leading cable TV broadcaster, DSTV.
Yibo Koko was appointed as Head of Production for Africa Magic in October 2014, to take over from long-serving M-NET Head of local productions, Erika Klopper.
In a statement announcing his appointment, Regional Manager for M-NET West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, had said:
“We are extremely pleased to have Yibo Koko on board. He brings with him over 24 years of indigenous and international entertainment industry knowledge and experience and I am positive that he will achieve even greater heights in his new position as Head of Productions for Africa Magic.”
It now appears as if the expectations of the company and Yibo Koko’s abilities have not synced and they are expected to part ways by the end of June 2015, according to TNS sources.
Erica Klopper is expected to carry on in her capacity until a worthy replacement can be found.
