Ifeanyi Dike Jr was a regular and most definitely a fan favorite on Mnet’s daily Soap Tinsel for years. Playing the role of Titan, a teenage pop star who fell in love with an unlikely character Salewa (another fan favorite) played by Tomi Odunsi, Ifeanyi stole the hearts of many every single night for a few years.
And when I saw him in person and asked him for a few seconds of his time a few weeks back, it was no surprise how he came to be such a fan delight.
Even though he barely had time to give, he ensured he gave me as much as he could and only went away to attend to other things when he was certain I was done asking questions.
Totally charming and with a face most of his female fans find irresistible, it is obvious he’s got the recipe for becoming a loved Actor.
Ifeanyi spoke to me about his time on BET’s hugely popular reality show; Top Actor Africa, his next projects and whether or not Tinsel is still in the works.

How was your experience at BET Top Actor Africa?
Did you see me cry?
No, I didn’t…
Okay it was absolutely difficult. It was an absolutely difficult experience to go through and erm… It was interesting and I was excited to be there. I learnt a lot so that’s how it was.So was there any form of networking with anyone?
I did, i mean one of the reasons I went there was because I was so interested in getting familiar with the BET people and as well as kind of see what it feels like in South Africa with South Africans and it was such a warm welcome with them and I absolutely enjoyed it.
Are you working on any project any time soon?
Yes, I mean, this month has been incredibly busy for me; i’m currently shooting a documentary for ONTV called Exploring and I’m also shooting a couple of short films and I’m shooting a series which I am not allowed to like talk about right now. I’m shooting a short next month and possibly a feature in December and, I got admitted to drama school for my masters in September at the University of California Los Angeles.
Whoop! Whoop! Didn’t you study medicine or something though?
I did study medicine which is why my parents are a little spastic about this but I think it’s currently boring…
So you’re breaking their hearts
I’ve been breaking their hearts since I was a kid. I think medicine is boring, I’ve been doing it for like nine years and I’m happy doing this (acting)
So why did you study medicine when you knew you were going to be an Actor?
Because it’s life, you know, your decisions change. I’ve always wanted to be an Actor but I also wanted to save lives. I practiced for a whole year at General Hospital Ikeja. It was the most traumatic year of my life but I loved it because I met the most amazing people ever and I don’t regret it for one second.
Are you still on Tinsel?
I haven’t been on Tinsel for a long time.
