Davido and his baby mama comfortably land on this week’s edition of Tomilola’s Take and the reason is not far-fetched.
Late last week, while we were all preparing to enter into the new year, news broke that Davido and his family were trying to smuggle his baby girl Imade out of the country.
This news brought two things into my mind – Who smuggles their own kid out of the country? And, I’d like to be smuggled out of the country to some fancy destination with a banging body, endless access to cocktails and without all the drama. Please, throw in a shirtless Kendrick Sampson into the mix. Thank you.
But hey, this is not about me.
While the whole of Nigeria was trying to understand Davido and his family’s action (even his father was in on this), more weird stories began to surface.
From the baby’s mother (Sophia Momodu) allegedly smoking weed which reflected in the baby’s bloodstream, to Davido hinting he was taken advantage of, to the salary Sophia was getting paid for being a baby mama, things just became an AMVCA worthy performance.
However, all of these things aren’t new and everyone who has an opinion knows this.
There might not be an official statistics to refer to but it is no news that a lot of young people father babies in this country. And we all know that one guy or girl who is either related to us or is a friend who got someone knocked up or who got knocked up in their late teens or early twenties.
These people because of how young they were when they had babies do not necessarily take on virginity or start drink only Pepsi after then – they keep having sex and indulge in weed/drugs if they want to.
So why the heck are we all calling Davido irresponsible?
The answer is simple – we don’t uncover our shit like Davido and his baby’s mother have.
Unlike both of them, there is no audience for our show.
And, Davido should have kept that situation to himself and left us all out of his messy baby mama drama.
That way, we’d never have known and wouldn’t miss it.
And that 2010 tweet of his wouldn’t have come to haunt him throwback style.
We hope other professional baby daddies have learnt sha, because I prefer ratchet American reality show to their soapy drama.
