Tubosun Aiyedehin may not be your regular “A lister” in Nollywood.
However, she is already on the list of award winners and, is constantly working on the big projects.
What’s more interesting, is that her biggest award yet, is a viewers’ choice award – a feat some of the biggest stars in Nollywood are yet to accomplish.
How did she do it, you may ask. And that will be a valid question.
But hopefully, this short interview will open your eyes to the undeniable talent that is Tubosun Aiyedehin.
The woman Nollywood shouldn’t sleep on.
On her projects after her AMVCA win
er.. I’ve got some work in the pipeline. It’s a series; it’s titled True Scarlet. It’s a production for a christian house – Gbenga and Tope Salu to be precise. I will keep you informed as the story develops.
On how she felt acting in Hell or High water, a film that centers around homosexuality
When a script comes my way, I don’t want to attach any unnecessary importance to it. This is just me doing my job. You read it, you flip through, it works for you, yeah. It doesn’t, you turn it down. If you feel it’s something you can pull through; give it your best shot, work on the character and see how best to interpret it. It’s best to put it into real life perspective, that way you’re able to get into that character to see how you will actually play it if you find yourself in the situation and that was what I just basically did. It may be controversial but it really isn’t a big deal, you understand? What would you do if you found yourself in this situation.
On her job as an Actress
I love my job, I always love to give it my best shot. I try to always tell myself that give it what it’s worth. Whoever has put this together has put in time, resource and money. So they’re expecting you to put in what your character should be
On favorite projects/productions
I love practically everyone that I’ve worked with. There could be challenges along the line, yeah, that’s what life is all about… the do’s and the don’ts. But when you find yourself at that particular bridge, try and cross it in peace; this is very important. So, I try to be very friendly with everyone I meet along the line. It is important that you tie all loose ends as much as possible. Be at peace with all men, it could be tough but that’s the policy I try to work with in life.
Her mantra for work
…something I learnt from my mom; be at peace with all men. Being at peace at work and being at peace with work. They are two different things… it’s been fun being with people, human beings make the world. Whoever you meet along the line, ask for wisdom to deal with the person.
