Uche Obi Osotule now Uche Macaulay has been absent from the screens for years now. The Actress who was a regular in movies in the 90s and early 2000s was at a time one of the most sought after actresses and one of the most loved by audiences in Nollywood.
Then known as Uche Obi Osotule, she was popular for roles were she played the ‘good girl’ and which undoubtedly made her a fan favorite at the height of her acting career.
And that was why it was shocking to a lot of people when she suddenly disappeared from the scene.
However, the question everyone asked regarding her career and why she suddenly disappeared over the years, was last week answered by the Actress herself during GDC Nolly Thursdays.
According to the star, after acting in Tunde Kelani’s hit 2000 movie, Thunderbolt, she had decided to take time off to focus on children’s books.
However, news went round that she had become a Yoruba actress and this clearly did not sit well with the Marketers/Producers who called her for jobs at the time.
The Checkmate actress added that with time, more news of her being banned from acting in movies went viral and nobody wanted to touch her with a ten foot pole.
However, the star said she’s currently working on a big series which would hit the screens soon and, she starred in a movie called Midnight Blues which hits the screens this year.
