Yoruba actor, Dele Odule, according to reports, has hit out at the name “Nollywood” used to describe the Nigerian movie-making industry.
Odule, who is a veteran in the Yoruba arm of the industry and is known for his interpretation of comic roles told Sahara TV that the idea of using the term Nollywood to describe the film industry in Nigeria is wrong.
He said, “I don’t see myself as a Nollywood artiste, I am just a Yoruba actor from Nigeria. If we must copy the ‘wood’, we must do it correctly.“
“Bollywood is in Bombay, Hollywood is in California, there is need for me to know where Nollywood is in Nigeria. That is why I don’t see myself as a Nollywood actor,” the actor pointed out.
