BY ‘SEGUN ODEJIMI

It is a surprise that over 48 hours after TNS published an exclusive interview in which Jude Idada, a Nollywood filmmaker and writer based in Canada alleged that Omoni Oboli TWICE made films using his script/story without giving him any form of credit or compensation, the actress and producer is yet to respond.

Oboli who was spotted at yesterday’s The Wedding Party premiere at TIFF is yet to respond to TNS phone calls, message and email. When TNS reached out to her PR representatives, Samuel Olatunji, the head of the firm promised to get back to our reporter. He is yet to do so as at the time of this update. They have yet to respond through any other media outfit.

In an explosive interview over half an hour long, Idada who recently produced 8 Bars and a Clef claimed that Oboli and her husband asked him to create characters and a storyline for an idea they had for Okafor’s Law which he did. According to him, after submitting it to them, they simply promised to get back to him. However, Idada claims that the next time he would hear about the project, the actress was ready with the film and despite striking similarities between what he submitted and the eventual film, Oboli did not accord him any form of credit. The writer also claimed that Oboli’s 2014 film, Being Mrs Elliot is also a product of intellectual property theft.

Apart from the interview, TNS has also obtained documents which include a copy of the contract between the parties, copies of Idada and Oboli’s versions of Okafor’s Law and a copy of the intellectual property registration receipt Idada received after registering his script with Canadian authorities.
