”Get Out” Leads MTV Movie & TV Awards Nominations As Show Goes Gender Neutral

The annual MTV Movie Awards is changing its tradition this year as for the first time ever, movie and television categories will both be represented on the show.

Nominees were unveiled last Thursday and Jordan Peele’s Get Out led the pack with six nominations. Additionally, the actor and actress categories have been combined into non-gendered fields for movies and TV shows.

Some of the nominees in the acting categories are Taraji P. Henson, Emma Watson, Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy for Best Actor In A Movie category while  Game Of ThronesEmilia Clarke, Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown will go head to head  with The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan for Best Actor In A Show.

Two more categories will be announced closer to the ceremony.
