According to Variety, Warner Bros. and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien are in talks with Amazon Studios to develop a series based on the late author’s “The Lord of the Rings” novels.
The negotiations, though, are said to still be in very early stages and no deal has been struck yet.
The Lord of the Rings is an epic high fantasynovel written by English author and scholar J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien’s 1937 fantasy novel The Hobbit, but eventually developed into a much larger work. Written in stages between 1937 and 1949, The Lord of the Rings is one of the best-selling novels ever written, with over 150 million copies sold.
It has also been converted into one of the biggest film franchises in the world.
