5 Things We Learned From Judith Audu’s “Just Not Married” Trailer

BY ANDREW OKE

First impressions are extremely important for a film, and most times that impression comes from the film’s first trailer. From the trailer you get to learn a lot about the tone and general feel of the film, amongst other things.

The trailer for the Uduak-Obong Patrick-directed movie Just not Married (I shit you not. That is the actual title) just dropped so we decided to make a list of the FIVE things we learned from it.

1. Cool Camera Shots

The trailer starts off with this cool looking steadicam shot of some kids running through a “ghetto” type area. The very next shot in the trailer is an aerial shot of a part of Lagos that DOES NOT have the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge in it, and that, my friends, is a breath of fresh air.

2. Story? What story?

If you’re expecting to get any hint of what the story of this movie is from the trailer, I must say you are shit out of luck. This isn’t because the story wasn’t explained. It’s because the background music of the trailer is so loud it literally drowns out almost all of the dialogue. If you asked me right now what I thought the film was about from the trailer, I’d say “It’s about one guy, and there’s another guy, and there’s one babe like that, and that guy is smoking, and LOL one fat man is eating corn.” Fin.

3. Fresh Faces

Most of the actors in this movie are relatively unknown, which is a good thing, because it’s always great to see new faces in movies. Let’s hope they can actually act. After all, a man can only see OC Ukeje’s face so many times before he gauges his eyes out.

4. Car Chase Scene

At the 2:04 mark, there’s what looks to be a car chase scene between the police and our “heroes” (whoever they are). It doesn’t look all that exciting, but I’m hoping they pull it off. Fingers crossed.

5. The “Title”

The last and most important thing we learned from this trailer is the fact that this movie officially has the worst title of all time. “Just not Married?!” I laugh in sign language. That’s just plain bad. That’s even worse than Terminator Genisys and Terminator Genisys is a pretty stupid title. I just hope – for the sake of the filmmakers – that people actually go and see this movie, despite its stupid title. “Just not Married” LOL!!!!!!

PS: Dear producer, it’s a trailer, not a short film. 3 minutes 10 seconds for a trailer is a bit of an overkill, don’t you think?
