In a somewhat shocking development, at least to outside observers, FilmOne Distribution and FilmHouse Cinemas have announced that they are parting ways with co-founder and erstwhile Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director, Kene Mkparu.
This was announced in a statement obtained by TNS.
Even though the statement did not give, in detail, reasons for this unfolding development, FilmHouse part of it read:
FilmHouse and FilmOne are entering a new phase, thus the Board has decided to appoint new Managing Director(s) to steer the affairs of both companies.
The statement was signed by Kene Okwuosa who will, in the interim, function as Managing Director of FilmOne Distribution and Production.
Mkparu who worked with Odeon Cinemas in London has been the face of FilmHouse Cinemas since it’s emergence in Nigeria in 2012.
The company is regarded as one of the biggest cinema franchises in Nigeria and has recently gone into Nollywood film co-production.
One of their famous co-productions, The Wedding Party remains the highest-grossing film in Nigerian cinema history.
