Bob Weinstein has issued a statement on the sexual assault scandal bedeviling his brother.
Following the reports that accused Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein of years of sexual assault, his elder brother and co-owner of The Weinstein Company Bob, has distanced himself from the issue plaguing him.
American gossip site quotes the 65 year old Bob as saying ‘My brother Harvey is obviously a very sick man. I’ve urged him to seek immediate professional help because he is in dire need of it. His remorse and apologies to the victims of his abuse are hollow. He said he would go away for help and has yet to do so. He has proven himself to be a world class liar and now rather than seeking help he is looking to blame others. His assertion is categorically untrue from A to Z. I pray he gets the help that he needs and I believe that it is him behind all of these stories to distract from his own failure to get help.’
Other reports had earlier claimed that Harvey blames his brother for leaking information to the New York Times that led to the exclusive profiling that brought him down. Sources say he did that to oust Harvey from the company they both own. The film production company removed the accused from its board when those allegations came out.
Harvey Weinstein’s wife Georgina Chapman also released a statement, saying that she was choosing to leave him as she could no longer be with a serial abuser as he’s being said to be.
