The Nollywood session at yesterday’s Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive) was a heated one.
A panel of discussion which featured Nollywood veteran, Patrick Doyle as well as talented actresses, Toyin Aimakhu and Adesua Etomi meant that a lot of issues facing the industry would no doubt be discussed.
Things began to heat up when the benefits of joining guilds sprang up and while Toyin felt being part of the guilds was required, Adesua felt otherwise. During the very wordy exchange between the pair captured here, Doyle who is an older member of the industry felt Adesua wasn’t entirely fair to the system.
According to him, Adesua who returned to Nigeria to pursue a career in acting from the UK should join the existing guilds.
“Now that you are in the system, join the guilds,” he said. “The industry has helped you.”
“A lot of the young Nigerians that come in from abroad brought in a lot of value to the moviemaking industry and that value is appreciated here.”
