There is a growing number of Nollywood lovers and practitioners who have found something fun and productive to do every first Friday of the month.
People begin to gather at SMAT Media‘s 4th-floor space on Tapa House in Surulere from 5 pm on such days, in anticipation of meeting friends and colleagues, watching a Nollywood classic, playing their favourite video and board games, discussing the movie they have just seen and of course, swallowing small chops while sipping their preferred choice of drink.
Last Friday was the first in October and as usual, people gathered. And truth be told, the crowd is beginning to outgrow The SMAT Place. Very soon, the organizers will be looking to solve the challenge of space. How quickly gone are the days when the major headache for TNS and SMAT Media used to be how to fill the hall where the screenings took place. This is a testament to the value Nolly First Fridays adds to the industry hangout/film screening space.
Issakaba was screened on Friday and Lancelot Odua Imasuen was around to talk about how he made the film as well as share useful tips to young filmmakers hoping to thrive in the industry.
Actor Seun Kentebe has anchored the past two editions. Olumide Oworu, Brutus Mfon, Paul Utomi, Sukanmi Adebayo attended Friday’s event.
Try not to miss November’s.
