Nollywood star, Segun Arinze has joined the growing list of people directing their pleas to the family of late Dr. Suraj Giwa on behalf of Ibinabo Fiberesima.
Ibinabo, the former Actors Guild of Nigeria president faces a five-year jail term after the Lagos State Court of Appeal upheld the judgement passed by Lagos State High Court in the actress’ manslaughter case.
Despite the fact that the case has since transformed into the state vs Ibinabo Fiberesima, Segun Arinze in an interview with HipTV pleaded to the family of the victim to drop their charges against her.
In an accident that occurred on the Lekki-Epe expressway in 2006, Dr. Suraj Giwa lost his life after the actress’ car lost control and rammed into his.
Arinze, in an attempt to pass his message across, prostrated before the TV station’s camera and said, “I am making a solemn appeal here and I’m saying please, if I could even go on my knees and they see me go on my knees, to the Giwa family, I beg you in the name of God, forgive Ibinabo. It has passed and it has passed, nobody prayed that what happened would happen.“
