SMATmedia Announces Next Phase Of “AreaFC” Casting Process

BY ESE DIBEBI

SMATmedia Productions, producers of upcoming television series, AreaFC have announced the next phase of the casting process which is the video submission stage.

In a statement released by the production company which previously produced MTVShuga 4, they are asking actors who responded to the casting call to visit the AreaFC website which goes live at midnight on Wednesday July 13th 2016.

When they find their submitted headshot on the audition page are required to simply download audition texts for whichever character they want to be considered for, the statement has said.

On why SmatMedia has chosen this approach, the statement says, “We needed to have an open and convenient process that would give everyone interested in being a part of the series an opportunity to audition for available roles.”

“The traditional approach of announcing an audition venue, we feel, will not give us the best opportunity to harvest from the massive pool of talents out there. Through this process, people who live in other parts of the country have a chance of taking part in the process without the challenge of having to travel to a particular location, spend hours waiting for their turn to audition, only to stand before exhausted casting directors who just want to go home.

“So we are asking actors to call their own shots using their smart phones; to take their time and give the best performance they can without any form of pressure. Next, they would then be required to upload their audition videos on social media, hashtag AreaFC (#areafc) and to also email us the upload link.

“With over 1,500 entries across Nigeria and parts of Africa, we are excited about the buzz the series is generating. This next phase will run for 3 weeks to allow everyone enough time to record and upload his or her video.”

AreaFC has been designed to connect with everyone with resonating storylines that live on the streets of Lagos, unapologetically mirroring everyday realities.
