The 2017 InShort Film Festival kicks off today, Thursday December 14, at the Sheraton Hotel, Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.
The annual festival which attempts brings together filmmakers from around Nigeria and the world will run until Saturday, December 16, 2017.
At the end of the three day festival, awards will be given in the following categories:
(i) Best Foreign Animation
(ii) Best African Animation
(iii) Best Foreign Documentary
(iv) Best African Documentary
(v) Best Music Video
(vi) Best Child Actor
(vii) Best Sound
(viii) Best Costume
(ix) Best Make-Up
(x) Best Soundtrack
(xi) Best Production Design
(xii) Best Cinematography
(xiii) Best Screenplay
(xiv) Best Edit
(xv) Best Visual/Special Effects
(xvi) Best International Film (Feature Or Documentary)
(xvii) Special Jury Prize
(xviii) Best Actor
(xix) Best Actress
(xx) Best Directing
(xxi) Best Film
Special recognition awards will also be given to a few personalities in the industry, who have been supporting short films or films, in general, either as individuals or through their organizations.
The organizers of the InShort Film Festival received more than three thousand entries for the 2017 festival with India, the US, Iran, Spain, Brazil, Italy, France, the UK, Nigeria and Russia having the highest number of entries.
The jury, led by Shaibu Husseini, have selected the films, which will be screening at the festival this year.
